Spitzkoepfe
ridge
What can I say ?
It's not quite hiking...
It's not really climbing...
It's not mountaineering yet...
It's... the most beautiful ridge in the Vosges.
The
setting is magnificent and the view over the Alsace open countryside
splendid. The Black Forest can be seen in the distance, with the Swiss
Alps.
There is often an impressive view over the
wild Wormsa valley, with the small Fischbœdle lake on one side and the
glacial cirque of the Wormspel on the other. You'll also discover the
gentleness of the Schiessrothried lake, which contrasts with the
austere glacial cirque.
The climbing is easy and accessible to everyone on beautiful white granite.
The climbing is akin to mountaineering; there
are no pitons or belay points, which is just as well. The route has a
wilderness feel, which is why I love this vertical hike. The climber
puts on and takes off friends or stoppers as he progresses. The terrain
remains untouched by human hands. A treat for the body and mind.
